I was enraptured as I captured this sacred moment in time of such a pure, devoted and innocent embodiment of “The Divine Feminine.”I knew that this woman standing before me was a significant piece to the puzzle of global sisterhood awakening and remembering the birth right of our prismatic beauty. I then heard ancient voices that told me of our past lives – that spoke of powerful priestess pilgrimages to pyramids, temples and holding sacred ceremony for the union of our sisters.

Although the first meeting with Chanel was short and sweet, I felt the magnitude of the magnetic energy we shared would bring us back together in the perfect divine flow.Oceans lay between us as our shared envisioning emerged, a new paradigm experience where women can celebrate their own sovereignty, reclaiming of their regal nature, bringing sacredness of ceremony with sisters to the forefront, to reunite and ignite our passion for purpose, to be completely surrendered and whole heartedly witnessed in the inner light of our shadows.

“I had a choice of going to a music festival that weekend or attending Chanel and Shona’s Ceremonial Goddess Photo shoot last year. I hadn’t been happy with the photos people had taken of me previously. I chose ceremony and photo shoot because I hoped to have a tangible record of who I am now, as opposed to the fleeting memory of a festival, Upon arrival I I immediately felt very welcomed by the circle of women. We were all indeed G_ddesses! I loved the healing yoga work, led by Shona, we did in the first half of the session. It further cemented the bond between us and the comfort we had around each other.

“Chanel is brilliance embodied. I have spent my life dealing with self confidence (and weight) issues and I wanted this shoot to capture & encompass who I am. I wanted it to prove to myself and help me believe that I can be in this body and still be perfect, I can still be sexy and beautiful and a divine Goddess. After seeing what Chanel could do, I knew she was the Goddess I needed to help me achieve this.

We found the perfect little spot fitted with a big pool, a waterfall and many large and wondrous rocks. I dressed into my clothes and Chanel set to work. I forgot all about the world while she guided me to pose for the best images I have ever seen.

I took the dress off and wrapped my Kanga around me, and sat patiently while Chanel lovingly painted my body. As soon as the paint was done, it was like stepping back into a life I’ve already lived. It felt so natural and sharing this experience with Chanel was blissful.

I am blown away by the energy that Chanel exhibits and puts out. She is amazing and, being riddled with self confidence issues, I felt so comfortable in her presence to stand there, bare-breasted & empowered.
The photos I received from Chanel have far exceeded my expectations and they are just brilliant. When I first saw them, I couldn’t help but cry tears of joy, they are beautiful and divine. After just looking at them for a mere 5 minutes, I already felt so much better about myself and who I am. I can’t put into words the gratitude I feel for Chanel and the photos she has taken that make me feel amazing. Chanel is a wonderful and amazing person and a brilliant photographer. I feel so honoured and blessed to have been able to do this shoot with her, and I would happily do it again. Chanel is a Goddess, an incredible person and I am honoured to know her.” –

“My heart fluttered from the moment I entered the temple.  I was welcomed by Shona, holding space for the women gathered to cross a threshold that day.  We had all been on a journey that led us to this very place.

As Shona anointed each woman, bowing in front of them, I witnessed a reverence unlike anything I had ever experienced. Chanel’s spirit lifted the room with laughter and imagination throughout the ceremony.  These women are so full of love! We breathed, we sang, we moved… we shared stories and gave thanks and ate together.  Ceremony has a powerful way of uniting us, bringing down the walls and masks we wear so skillfully each day to get by or get ahead.  Shona’s experience and wise, beautiful presence as a modern-day Priestess created the perfect safe container for us to connect and express our inner Goddess.

   While we entered the temple as strangers, we left as sisters, buzzing hearts and glowing skin, having reflected each other’s beauty and stories through the ceremony and photo shoots.  Each woman was made to feel like a queen, comfortable and inspired to allow her unique radiance to shine through.  Chanel is a visionary.  She sees the magnificent in the ordinary, the formless in the form.  She sees the Goddess and pulls her from the depths of your soul towards the lens.

  I have since used my photos for my website, media coverage and other creative uses both personally and professionally.  I can not wait for Shona and Chanel to return so we can once again enter the sacred temple and co-create this art together.  I hope they keep producing these one-of-a-kind ceremonies so other’s have the opportunity to crystallize the transformation we are all experiencing.”

“Together we made our way through the greenery, the ground soft and moist below our feet, and the rainforest around us a hive of afternoon activity. Armed with a plastic bucket and amazing photographer Chanel Baran, I had a plan, and a story to tell. The path we walked weaved its way up through the dense, tropical rainforest, the nearby river bubbling loudly as it flowed downwards through the trees and the rocks.

 It was towards the end of 2013, an epic year of grief, loss, darkness, vulnerability and extreme transformation. I wanted to capture the incredible journey I had been on emotionally, and I knew that Chanel was the person to capture the story and vision. My intention for this photo shoot was to get naked, dirty, raw, vulnerable, and express the power and beauty that can be found in this dark place. I have always felt most balanced amongst nature, so I felt compelled to really ground myself in the earth by literally covering myself in it, and washing it off.

 The process itself of covering my body in mud was so incredibly healing and grounding, especially in such lush surrounds, with the forest greenery and soundscape to soothe my soul. But the photos, oh my goddess!!!!!! Each photo told my story, capturing both the emotion and the transformation I had been through. I feel so honoured to share these photos to showcase the amazing work of this divine photographer. I cannot thank Chanel Baran enough for her spirited existence and dedication to her craft.”

“When you look into a pool of water with leaves floating on the surface and rocks and branches at the bottom, you can see multiple worlds.
